Appointments

Who do I see?

Urgent and routine appointments

The surgery offers both face to face and telephone appointments with our GPs or Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP). These can be booked for urgent or routine medical problems.

If you need an appointment with a GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner, please submit a PACO request between the hours of 8am – 6pm, Monday – Friday. This can be done either via:

  • PACO Online Consultation tool available from our homepage.
  • Completing a paper PACO request form at the front desk.
  • Completing a PACO request form over the phone with a Care Navigator (where patient is unable to attend the Practice to complete form).

If we have reached the maximum number of PACO requests for that day and you are getting the automatic message to advise this, please wait until 8am the next day to submit if it is for something routine. If you are acutely unwell and need seeing the same day please call us on 0151 638 8833.

Your request will then be triaged by our Care Navigation Team who are trained and supported by our Duty Doctor to navigate patients appropriately. You will receive a response to your request within 48 hours (not including weekends or public holidays when we are closed).

The outcome could be any of the following:

  • To expect a telephone call from the GP or ANP
  • To come in to the Practice for a face to face appointment with a GP or ANP
  • Directed to a local service e.g. pharmacy, walk in centre, minor injuries, physiotherapy etc
  • Prescribed medication
  • Given at home treatment advice

If you know you or someone you care for needs an appointment on the day, please submit a PACO before 2pm. If you or someone you care for has become poorly later in the day and you feel they need to be seen the same day, please call us on 0151 638 8833 and our emergency doctor will triage your/their symptoms.

Outside of our opening hours of 08:00 – 18:30, please call NHS111 or attend A&E as appropriate. Please do not wait for us to re-open if you are acutely unwell, and seek medical advice as soon as possible.

Cancelling your appointment

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. If we have a mobile number on your record you will receive a text message reminder which you can simply reply CANCEL to if no longer required. If you have not received a text message then please call us on 0151 638 8833 to cancel.

Enhanced and Extended Access

We offer some appointments that fall outside of our normal working hours, in order to cater for our patients who struggle to make appointments during our usual working hours. These are available early mornings, evenings and weekends. For more details please speak to one of our helpful Care Navigator Team members on how to book these appointments 0151 638 8833.

Home visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:00.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.
